Description
Trinity School, a coeducational, K-12 institution located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, seeks a Lower School Spanish teacher, beginning in September 2015.
 
The successful candidate will be a dedicated, skilled foreign language teacher with demonstrated expertise teaching Spanish to students in early childhood and elementary school, as well as experience developing curriculum.  Know2ledge of the FLES model and work with integrated curriculum development is beneficial.  In addition, the School seeks candidates with strong teaching skills and who are committed to on-going professional development and eager to make some significant contribution to the school community beyond the language classroom.  The department seeks an approachable colleague who possesses intellectual curiosity, openness to others’ ideas, an eagerness to extend oneself for others, and a sense of humor.
 
Trinity’s Modern Languages Department offers instruction in Spanish, French, and Mandarin. Mandatory Spanish instruction begins in Kindergarten; in fifth grade, students can choose to continue with Spanish or start French.  In ninth grade, students can continue with the language studied in Middle School, or they can begin a new foreign language, including Mandarin.  Separate from the Modern Languages Department, the school’s Classics Department offers instruction in Latin and Greek, including mandatory Latin in grades 6‐8.
