Trinity School, a coeducational, K-12 institution located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, seeks substitute teachers in the following departments:  Mathematics; Science; Computer Science; Modern Languages; Classics; English; History; Religion, Philosophy, & Ethics; Performing Arts; Visual Arts; and Physical Education & Fitness.
 
Substitute teachers are utilized on an as-needed basis to cover the classroom in the teacher’s absence. The primary role of the substitute teacher is to further student learning established by the absent teacher.  The responsibilities of the substitute teacher in the classroom may include, but are not limited to, the following:  planning lessons, teaching students, managing the classroom, taking attendance, promoting positive student behavior, and ensuring the safety and security of the students.
 
When providing day-to-day service, substitute teachers are paid at the per diem contractual rate of $135/day, less applicable taxes and do not receive any benefits.  Longer-term substitutes (2+ weeks) receive higher pay based on years of teaching experience.
