Trinity School, a co-educational, K-12 institution located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, seeks a part-time Upper School Teacher of Mandarin, beginning in September 2020.

The successful candidate will be a dedicated, skilled foreign language teacher who has successfully taught written and spoken Mandarin to American students or in an American system. In addition, the school seeks candidates committed to on-going professional development and eager to make some significant contribution to the school community beyond the language classroom. The department seeks an approachable colleague who possesses intellectual curiosity, openness to others’ ideas, an eagerness to extend oneself for others, and a sense of humor.

Trinity’s Modern Languages Department offers instruction in Spanish, French, and Mandarin. Mandatory Spanish instruction begins in kindergarten, and in fifth grade, students can choose to continue with Spanish or change to French. In ninth grade, students can continue with the language studied in Middle School, or they can begin a new foreign language, including Mandarin. Separate from the Modern Languages Department, the school’s Classics Department offers instruction in Latin and Greek, including mandatory Latin in the Middle School.
