Trinity School, a co-educational, K-12 institution located on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, seeks a full-time dance educator to join the Performing Arts Department beginning September 1, 2026. Serving students from Kindergarten through Grade 12, this role is perfect for a dynamic educator who is passionate about dance education and interested in collaborating to develop a K-12 dance program.
The ideal candidate will hold an undergraduate or graduate degree in dance, have experience as a professional dancer, as well as experience creating or building a dance program in a K-12 school setting. Candidates should be passionate about bringing dance into the lives of all students, from kindergarteners who have never been in a dance class to high school seniors who have been studying dance for years. In addition to collaboratively developing a scope and sequence for dance, this educator will collaborate on existing performing arts productions and classes. In year one of the program, there will be classes scheduled for Lower and Middle School students and the teacher’s schedule will leave time to get to know the school and to begin to build out the program. In addition to working in performing arts, the ideal candidate will find opportunities to integrate dance into the small spaces where it can thrive in the School’s existing program across all three divisions (lower, middle and upper) and within a busy school schedule. The job will include some evenings and weekends. Collaboration and flexibility will be in high demand.
Professional responsibilities include contributing to the life of the school outside of the classroom, engaging in professional development opportunities, communicating with parents, fulfilling supervisory duties, and participating in committee work. A deep commitment to equitable teaching practices is a must.
Trinity School is an Equal Opportunity Employer and actively seeks candidates who will contribute to the diversity of its school community.
Interested candidates should submit a resume and a cover letter outlining their readiness for this position. Applications without a cover letter will not be considered.
Additionally, applicants should provide access to a portfolio or website(s) to show examples of their dance or dance teaching.
Salary range: $72,200 - $171,200 (salary based upon experience)
