Description

Trinity School, a co-educational, K-12 institution located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, seeks a part-time leave replacement Teacher of Performing Arts, Lower and Middle Schools beginning February 18, 2026 (.8 time). While daily hours vary based on the school calendar, the ideal candidate must be available Monday through Friday and for occasional evening concerts.

Trinity School seeks an experienced and collaborative music educator and conductor to teach beginning strings, beginning orchestra classes (Grades 4-6), and to lead the Lower School Chamber Orchestra (Grades 3-4). Qualified candidates must play the violin, viola, cello or bass, have a minimum of three years of teaching experience, a professional level of skill on their primary instrument, a love for working with students of all ages, and a wide range of musical ability. Candidates should possess strong communication skills, a desire to work collaboratively and with the existing curriculum, a commitment to professional development, and a sense of humor.

A Master’s degree or higher in music education or performance is preferred.

The responsibilities of the position include:

  • Teaching beginning strings (violin, viola, cello, bass) for Grades 4-6;
  • Directing the Lower School Chamber Ensemble (Grades 3-4);
  • Preparing students for concerts and various performances, including those during Community Time, Chapel gatherings, and evening performances; and
  • Conduct string clinics for students in the 7/8 Orchestra and the Upper School Orchestra.
