Trinity School, a co-educational, K-12 institution located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, seeks a full-time dynamic and inspirational leader to serve as its Director of Educational Technology starting July 1, 2026. As a key member of the Technology Department, the Director will balance visionary leadership with practical implementation, supporting exploration, creativity, inquiry, and innovation in teaching and learning.

Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, the successful candidate will be an experienced educator who partners closely with administrators, faculty, and students. Rather than adopting technology for its own sake, this leader will engage the community in thoughtful dialogues ensuring that our systems promote creativity and deepen the student-teacher conversation.

  Key Responsibilities

  Strategic Leadership and Innovation:

  • Vision and Planning: Execute the school’s strategic technology plan, ensuring school-wide connections between educational technology and infrastructure initiatives.
  • Emerging Technologies and AI: Lead the school’s engagement with Artificial Intelligence (AI) and emerging tools. This includes facilitating an AI Working Group to develop AI literacy that balances skepticism and curiosity.
  • Tool Management: Maintain a rigorous system for vetting educational technology tools for data privacy, cost, and safety, while managing the sunsetting of outdated/redundant tools.
  • Evaluation: In collaboration with the CIO, evaluate software and hardware to make strategic recommendations that align with the school's mission.

  Teaching, Learning, and Faculty Support:

  • Partnership: Serve as a partner who can engage in pedagogical conversations with faculty to connect technology tools to classroom practice. This involves understanding curriculum needs and assessment for learning, rather than offering just technical training and/or technology for its own sake.
  • Professional Development: Design and lead ongoing professional development (workshops, and one-on-one support) to support faculty in their classroom instructional practice.
  • "Just-in-Time" Support: Provide day-to-day, hands-on instructional support for faculty and students, ensuring they can leverage tools effectively in real-time.
  • Onboarding: Design and lead technology orientation for new students and faculty to support effective learning and teaching in a digital environment.

  Digital Citizenship and Student Engagement:

  • Curriculum Design: Develop and implement a K-12 scope and sequence for digital literacy and responsible digital citizenship.
  • Ethical Leadership: Support the school’s commitment to Labore et Virtute by teaching students to use technology with integrity. Ensure our digital citizenship curriculum empowers students to act as persuasive and courageous citizens in digital spaces.

  Systems and Operations:

  • Platform Management: Oversee the pedagogical use of institutional account services, such as Google Workspace for Education, Learning Management System (e.g., Blackbaud), Edtech tools, ensuring they assist teachers and students effectively.
  • Infrastructure Collaboration: Collaborate with the CIO to provide joint oversight for 1:1 technology programs and related operational needs.

  Qualifications

  Education and Experience:

  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree is required; a Master’s degree in educational technology, instructional design, or a related field is highly preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of three years of classroom teaching experience is required, alongside 2–4 years of significant experience in an educational technology leadership role.

  Skills and Competencies:

  • Classroom Experience: We seek candidates who center the student-teacher relationship in their approach to educational technology. Technology for its own sake is not something we value—technology that enables us to deepen our work with students is.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in multiple operating systems (macOS, Windows, Chrome OS) and deep experience with Google Workspace for Education and Learning Management Systems (e.g., Blackbaud, Google Classroom).
  • Soft Skills: A collaborative, patient mindset with excellent communication and project management skills. The candidate must be able to build strong relationships with both adults and students. A sense of humor is a definite plus.
  • Growth Mindset: We value the ability to learn new systems as much as mastery of current ones. We are looking for a leader who embodies ‘Virtute’ – someone who lifts others up and creates a welcoming environment for faculty and students.

An Equal Opportunity Employer, Trinity School seeks candidates who will add to the diversity of our school community.

Interested candidates should post a resume as well as a cover letter outlining their readiness for this position.

Starting Salary Range: $100,000 - $150,000 (salary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience and expertise)
